Association of GLP-1RA Use with Improvement in Medical and LTSS/HCBS Utilization in the High-Complexity, LTSS/HCBS Utilizing Medicare-Medicaid Dual-Eligible Population
ABSTRACT
This study evaluated if use of GLP1 medications in a high-complexity, LTSS/HCBS-utilizing Medicare-Medicaid dual-eligible population is associated with changes in utilization of medical and LTSS/HCBS services. Use of GLP-1RA medication in the high-complexity, LTSS/HCBS utilizing Medicare-Medicaid dual-eligible population was found to be associated with significant improvement in medical and LTSS/HCBS utilization, though causality cannot be definitively established. The US dual-eligible population might be uniquely positioned to benefit from the wider effects of GLP1 given the population’s smaller size and “whole-person” opportunity for cost-savings.
