Interactive Open Educational Resource Development with LiaScript - Pilot study of a brief cancer pain management module
ABSTRACT
Open educational resources are commonly formatted as static content, such as articles, posters, web pages and blog posts. Including interactive content such as quizzes has so far not been feasible without dedicated server infrastructure and considerable technical expertise. The open source educational document format LiaScript allows the creation of interactive content from plain text and independent of a live server. As a pilot study we developed a brief opioid prescribing teaching resource and sought feedback from postgraduate students who used it. Out of 32 respondents 30 found it either useful or very useful. We thus demonstrate a feasible workflow for plain text generation and effective dissemination of open educational resource content.
