Recommendations from a Healthcare Provider's Perspective for Better Implementation of Telemedicine and Telenursing: A Descriptive Qualitative Approach
ABSTRACT
Background:
Digital technology-based healthcare services like telemedicine and tele-nursing are expanding quickly across the globe. Although the use of telemedicine and tele-nursing has shown promise, there are a number of obstacles to overcome.
Objective:
The aims of research are to investigate perceptions of health stakeholders in managing the advantages of telemedicine, tele-nursing and conveying weaknesses of 5M (Man, Money, Method, Machine and Material) factors
Methods:
This study combines the literature and descriptive qualitative analysis of FGDs. Searching for literature journals with a convenience approach that has keywords, benefits, advantages, disadvantages, obstacles, and constraints of tele-nursing or telemedicine. FGD was conducted in 2022 and 2024. A total of 23 participants were selected based on purposive sampling with the criteria of people involved in the development and implementation of telemedicine or tele-nursing.
Results:
The benefits and barriers of telemedicine and tele-nursing were identified. The selection of service types must be carried out so that recommended services can be produced that can be combined between face-to-face and telemedicine phases in monitoring activities, follow-up care, providing education and consultation, and strengthening motivation for patients and families.
Conclusions:
Tele-nursing and telemedicine have benefits for healthcare services. For telemedicine to run smoothly, preparation of the Method, Man, Money, Material, and Machine (5M) elements is necessary. Implications for healthcare services necessitate the creation of operational guidelines for the implementation of telemedicine and tele-nursing.
