ABSTRACT

By enabling non-invasive and continuous monitoring of critical physiological parameters, wearable devices hold the potential to transform the early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and management of numerous clinical conditions. Growing evidence indicates that obstructive sleep apnea–hypopnea syndrome is an independent risk factor for hypertension.However, the comorbidity of OSAHS and hypertension is often underrecognized and suboptimally managed. Wearable technologies present unique benefits in the management of chronic diseases. This review concentrates on wearable devices designed for the monitoring of sleep parameters and blood pressure. We summarize: (1) the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying the relationship and mutual influence between OSAHS and hypertension; (2) current applications of wearable devices in managing this comorbidity; and (3) future directions for their development and clinical integration.Monitoring through wearable devices has emerged as a key area of interest among researchers, as evidenced by the growing number of relevant publications. In this review, we highlight the most noteworthy studies contributing to this rapidly evolving field.
