ABSTRACT

Background:

This scoping review protocol addresses the imperative need for a comprehensive understanding of the health and well-being of university members, aligning with the global recognition of universities as pivotal in promoting holistic well-being. The lack of consensus and diverse definitions surrounding health and well-being in academic literature necessitates a systematic approach.

Objective:

We propose a scoping review protocol that is specifically tailored to develop proposals for measures to improve the health and well-being of university members.

Methods:

This protocol utilizes the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) guideline to outline a scoping review to map the existing literature. The review will employ the SPIDER tool (Sample, Phenomenon of Interest, Design, Evaluation, Research type) for clarity. Eligibility criteria include English-language publications on health and well-being surveys of university members within the past ten years. Several electronic databases and grey literature repositories will be searched.

Results:

As this is a protocol, results are not yet available. The planned review will synthesize findings to provide a narrative and statistical overview, addressing topics surveyed and methodologies.

Conclusions:

The protocol ensures methodological rigor, aligning with WHO guidelines and global health-promoting frameworks for universities. It lays the groundwork for a comprehensive exploration of health and well-being surveys among university members and supports the establishment of a measurement system in Hungary, while providing valuable insights to the broader national and international academic community. Clinical Trial: The protocol was registered in the Open Science Framework (Registration DOI: https://doi.org/10.17605/OSF.IO/JMU78).
