ABSTRACT

Background:

Neck pain with high incidence and recurrence rates significantly impairs patients' quality of life and imposes a considerable economic burden. Traditional Chinese medicine therapies, such as Yijinjing exercise and Tuina, have showed promising efficacy in alleviating local pain symptoms of neck pain. However, there is currently insufficient high-level evidence to robustly support these findings. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of combining Yijinjing exercise with Tuina for the treatment of neck pain.

Objective:

Provide a theoretical basis for the clinical application of the combination of tuina and Yijinjing in the treatment of neck pain.

Methods:

Search PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, Web of Science, CNKI, CBM, Wan-fang Database, all publications, without time limit, will be free of language and status restrictions, from the establishment of the website until December 2025 all randomized controlled trials related to this study. The Cochrane RoB2 tool was used to assess study quality, and the data were screened and extracted by different investigators for data analysis using Review Manager tool.

Results:

This systematic review and meta-analysis may confirm the efficacy and safety of Tuina therapy combined with Yijinjing exercise for neck pain.This systematic review was funded in August 2024. The database search began in December 2024. As of March 2025, we identified 2,573 papers for screening. The research screening is expected to be completed by December 2025, and the data extraction and analysis are expected to be completed by March 2026.

Conclusions:

This systematic review will provide compelling evidence for evaluating the effectiveness and safety of Tuina combined with Yijinjing in the treatment of neck pain, to offer more choices for both clinicians and patients during the treatment process of neck pain.
