Establishing an Evaluation Indicator System for User Satisfaction with Hypertension Management Apps: Combining User-Generated Content and Analytic Hierarchy Process
ABSTRACT
Background:
The hypertension management apps (HMAs) can effectively control blood pressure, but its actual use effect is poor. Establishing an user satisfaction evaluation indicator system of HMA can not only help app developers further improve the design of apps, but also help users find suitable apps, thereby improving the actual use effect of apps.
Objective:
This study aims to systematically collect data on HMAs and their user reviews in the US (the United States) and China, analyze app usage status and functional characteristics, identify factors influencing user satisfaction from existing research, and develop a satisfaction evaluation indicator system to offer more accurate suggestions for improving user satisfaction.
Methods:
We conducted a descriptive statistical analysis to assess the development status of HMAs in both countries and applied the task-technology fit (TTF) model to evaluate whether app functionality meets business needs. We separately summarized the factors influencing user satisfaction in the two countries from previous research, used an analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to create an evaluation indicator system for HMA user satisfaction, and calculated user satisfaction. Based on these findings, we propose app improvements regarding functional characteristics and user satisfaction.
Results:
Regarding the current development status of apps, HMAs and user reviews in China were fewer than those in the US. Regarding app functional availability, less than 5% of the apps achieved a demand fulfillment rate exceeding 80%. The overall satisfaction of users in both countries was low.
Conclusions:
In the US, the lowest user satisfaction scores were related to advertising distribution, data synchronization, and reliability. Chinese apps need improvement in cost efficiency and compatibility.
