The Effectiveness of Telenutrition Intervention to Improve Dietary Behavior and Physical Activity among Obese Adolescent: Protocol for a Systematic Review
ABSTRACT
Background:
The global obesity pandemic among adolescent is becoming a public health issue throughout the world. Telehealth use has increased significantly during and after Pandemic Covid-19, including for adolescent obesity prevention and treatment.
Objective:
This review aims to synthesize the evidence on the effectiveness of telenutrition in improving dietary behavior and physical activity in obese adolescents.
Methods:
The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Protocols will be used to structure this protocol. The focus of the systematic review is guided by a population, intervention, comparator, and outcome framework. A systematic search of Science direct, Pubmed, Cochrane, Embase, Journal of Medical Internet Research, and Google scholar database will be conducted. Two authors will screen the titles and abstracts of identified references independently and select studies according to the eligibility criteria. Any discrepancies will then be discussed and resolved. One reviewer will extract data into a standardized form, which will be validated by a second reviewer. The Cochrane Collaboration Risk of Bias tool was used to assess the risk of bias, and a descriptive analysis will summarize the effectiveness of the telenutrition or any type of telehealth intervention used.
Results:
The systematic review will be projected to be completed at the end of September 2023. The ongoing screening and review of article is currently conducted.
Conclusions:
This systematic review will summarize the effectiveness, the features, design process, usability, and coherence of telenutrition intervention with behavior change theory in improving dietary pattern and physical activity among obese adolescent. It will identify areas of improvement, good practices, and help inform the development of more useful and engaging future telenutrition intervention in adolescent.
