ABSTRACT

The pandemic provided a stark reminder of the inequities faced by populations historically marginalized by the healthcare system and accelerated the adoption of digital health technologies (DHTs) to drive innovation. DHT's purported promises to reduce inefficiencies and costs, to improve access and health outcomes, and to empower patients adds a new level of urgency to health equity. As conventional medicine shifts towards digital medicine, we have the opportunity to intentionally develop and deploy DHTs with an inclusion focus. Expanding the domains of diversity is critical for capturing and implementing an inclusive approach for advancing health care quality and health services research, in the digital era.
