ABSTRACT

Background:

Background:

Hypertension is the most common chronic disease and major risk factor for cardiovascular and kidney disease. Better effect in blood pressure control was proved for comprehensive intervention by a large and growing body of literature, and and “adherence” play an important role. WeChat-based health interventions showed high acceptability, feasibility, and efficacy, but the results were inconsistent about the improvement in blood pressure between the WeChat-based intervention and control groups.

Objective:

Objectives: This study aims to develop a WeChat-Based Integrative Intervention program and evaluate its effectiveness on the blood pressure control and adherence of dwellers with hypertension.

Methods:

Methods:

A two-arm, parallel- group and randomized trial design will be used. Dwellers with hypertension will be randomized, to either a control group, or to an experimental group receiving a 12-week WeChat-based integrative intervention program. The program, which was mainly developed based on Behavior Chang Wheel theory, provides exercise, diet, blood pressure monitoring and medicine adherence health education and other intervention including behavior change techniques guided by intervention manual. The primary outcomes include blood pressure and adherence indicators, and the secondary outcomes are meaning in learning performance, satisfaction and acceptability. Data about adherence indicators will be measured once a week by WeChat or telephone, other data about outcomes will be collect at one months, and at 3 months after the program.

Results:

Discussion:If the WeChat-based Integrative Intervention program achieves success, the management mode will serve as a feasible hypertension management mode suitable for the community.

Conclusions:
