ABSTRACT

Background:

Opp is a universal mental health promoting mobile application for adolescents aged 13 to 19 years.

Objective:

The aim of this paper is to provide a description of the randomized control trial that will be conducted to examine the effectiveness of Opp. The protocol is written in accordance with the Spirit checklist.

Methods:

An effectiveness study with three measurement points (pre-intervention [T1], two weeks after the intervention [T2], and about one-month follow-up [T3]) will be conducted. Adolescents will be recruited through schools in Norway and randomly assigned to the intervention (Opp) and control group.

Results:

Recruitment and data collection will begin in September 2022. The results will be available in 2023 and forward.

Conclusions:

This project will contribute with unique knowledge to the field as there are few studies that have examined the effects of universal health-promoting mobile applications for adolescents.
