ABSTRACT

Background:

Significant inequities in cardiovascular disease (CVD) occur between and within countries, driving much of current global health inequities. Despite well-established treatment protocols and clinical interventions, little is known about whether the pre-hospital CVD care pathway varies by ethnicity. In particular, how experience of the pre-hospital care pathway facilitates or inhibits timely access to care for out of hospital cardiac events for people of different ethnicities is unclear.

Objective:

To identify differences in the experience of the acute cardiac community care pathway by ethnicity.

Methods:

Databases will be searched to identify relevant literature of any study design published in English with an adult population. Eligible studies will be critically appraised by multiple authors using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool and CONSIDER framework, and disagreements on inclusion/exclusion settled by a discussion with all reviewers. Findings will be reported according to the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Data will be extracted and categorised under key domains. A narrative review of these domains will be conducted using indigenous data sovereignty approaches as a guide.
