Managing opportunities and challenges of mental health and technology during distance learning

ABSTRACT
The COVID-19 pandemic has led to distance learning for many school age students. In addition to concerns of anxiety and depression resulting from physical isolation, there have also been opportunities for students to thrive as they cultivate online friendships more intentionally. For some students who face bullying and microaggressions, school has not always been a welcoming place, which might make distance learning a more favorable option. Navigating the transition between online virtual learning and in person school has created new challenges along with opportunities for students to engage with peers.
