Abstract
We feel that that given the current COVID-19 crisis, it has created a lot of uncertainties and anxiety. With medical classes initially being conducted online and the ongoing match season, things do not seem to be getting better. NRMP made an official announcement on May 26 that they do not require candidates to take or pass the CS examination in order to participate in the Match. On November19, USMLE announced being in phase 2 (design phase) to relaunch this exam. For this reason, we have written our perspective of possible alternate solutions instead of conducting USMLE Step 2 CS. If the alternate model works out, it can be possibly implemented in future residency match seasons as well.
