Cultural Barriers to Communication in the Age of a Pandemic: A Medical Student’s Perspective

ABSTRACT

As a consequence of the pandemic, healthcare professionals have been forced to alter communication methods drastically. The current pandemic has inspired us to reflect upon communicating training at medical school, our experiences in light of COVID-19 and the fresh obstacles to communication that its changes inflict. We hold the view that communication training is grossly inadequate, and this is driven by limited experiential exposure - a situation now exacerbated by the current pandemic.
