Need for Education and Clinical Best Practice Guidelines in the Era of Direct-to-Consumer Genomic Testing

ABSTRACT

A significant proportion of direct-to-consumer (DTC) genetic testing results are brought into the primary care setting. However, most primary care providers (PCPs) are neither trained to interpret nor communicate about DTC genetic test results. New guidelines must be developed to help PCPs maximize the potential of emerging DTC technologies.
