Suicide on Facebook-the Tale of an Unnoticed Departure in Bangladesh.
Facebook has transformed the concept of our traditional communication and emerged as a new medium for suicide communication. However, a number of social and health related problems deserve attention as its popularity increases rapidly over time. In this case, I report the suicide of a female model in Bangladesh who completed her suicide after posting a series of statements on her Facebook. These posts were visible to her a quarter million of Facebook friends and followers. However, none of them took any serious step to prevent the suicide rather they provoked her to complete the suicide. This reluctant attitude of this large number of followers deserve exploration and notification because a number of researchers are considering Facebook as an effective platform to prevent suicide and provide prevention. Moreover, this is the first reported case of suicide of a controversial celebrity from South East Asia. People may have a different attitude to a suicide post related response in different sociocultural.
