Patient Perspectives on Ambient AI Scribing in Dermatology: A Cross-Sectional Study

ABSTRACT

This cross-sectional study found that human scribes are generally preferred over ambient AI scribes with respect to perceptions of comfort and time spent with dermatologists during visits. Data privacy and security, ethics and workforce implications, accuracy, and skepticism toward technological capabilities emerged as important concerns. Collectively, these findings illustrate both the promise and current limitations of ambient AI scribing and highlight the need to address dangerous misconceptions about the usage of AI in clinical settings like its replacement of clinical judgement.
