ABSTRACT
Background:
Internet of Things (IoT) technologies are transforming healthcare by enabling real-time monitoring, remote diagnostics, and personalized treatment.
Objective:
This study aims to explore the role of IoT in enhancing patient care.
Methods:
A scoping review was conducted in July 2025 following PRISMA-ScR guidelines. A PubMed search identified 294 articles, of which 59 met the inclusion criteria after screening. Data were extracted, analyzed, and organized into eight thematic categories, with expert validation ensuring accuracy.
Results:
Findings indicate that IoT applications in patient care include remote monitoring, data collection, personalized healthcare, disease management, security, early detection, wearable technologies, and telemedicine. Key applications such as real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, and secure data transmission improve healthcare delivery and clinical decision-making.
Conclusions:
Overall, IoT enhances patient outcomes and may reduce healthcare costs by enabling timely interventions and tailored treatments. Despite security and privacy concerns, IoT remains a transformative force in modern healthcare. Clinical Trial: -
