ABSTRACT

Background:

This study aimed to construct an information closed-loop management system to improve the accuracy of identification of mother-infant rooming-in care units and the efficiency of infant admission and discharge management.

Objective:

This study aimed to construct an information closed-loop management system to improve the accuracy of identification of mother-infant rooming-in care units and the efficiency of infant admission and discharge management.

Methods:

A newborn admission and discharge information closed-loop management scheme was formulated and implemented. The mothers who delivered from January 2023 to June 2023 were used as the control group; the mothers who delivered from July 2023 to May 2024 were used as the research group. The data on the workload and efficiency of nursing staff, the satisfaction of mothers and their families, the monthly average qualification rate of infant identity verification, and the qualification rate of infant consultation time were collected and statistically analyzed before and after the closed-loop process was implemented.

Results:

The monthly average qualification rate of infant identity verification after the closed-loop process was implemented was (99.45±1.34), which was higher than the monthly average qualification rate of the control group before the closed-loop process was implemented (83.58±1.92) (P < 0.05). After the closed-loop process was implemented, the satisfaction of mothers and their families (96.45±3.32) was higher than that before the closed-loop process was implemented (92.82±4.73) (P < 0.05), and the separation time between infants and mothers was controlled within 1 hour.

Conclusions:

The construction and application of the information closed-loop management system has significantly improved the accuracy and efficiency of maternal and infant identity verification, realized real-time tracking of newborn entry and exit, and full-process management, thus greatly enhancing the safety of newborn care.
