ABSTRACT

This review investigated immersive virtual reality (IVR) interventions for improving executive function skills of children and adolescents with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The limitations for database search were publication years (2000-2023) and language (English). A search across 4 scientific databases yielded 2.484 potential records. After a rigorous screening process, 6 articles met our inclusion criteria. These articles were qualitatively analyzed, revealing a tendency towards integration of neurofeedback systems with IVR technologies. The specific characteristics of these interventions with their common and different aspects were reported. Potential reasons for the small number of articles, limitations of the current research and directions for future research were discussed.
