ABSTRACT

On March 3rd, 2020, a Saudi citizen, returning from an international travel, reported positive for the COVID-19. Since then, Saudi Arabia has been proactive in implementing disease containment measures such as placing active surveillance at all ports of entry into the country and intercity, closure of educational institutes, and governmental offices, suspension of international and domestic flights and closure of all other means of domestic transportations. It has also taken measures of effecting international health such as suspension of Umrah services, and the unprecedented suspension of conjugate prayers in all mosques. With the execution of these mitigation measures emerged the need for activation of remote digital services so as to ensure continuity of services and functionality of the governmental and private sectors across the country. This paper attempts to summarise the digital response of Saudi Arabia during the COVID 19 Pandemic.
