ABSTRACT
COVID 19 pandemic needs deployment of novel surveillance strategies to curtail the spread of disease further in the community. Participatory disease surveillance may be deployed in countries like India with scarce resources and not so robust heath care system. The innovative surveillance mechanism will result in more accuracy in data collection, offer faster aggregation and analysis of data and support public health authorities in prompt response measures. It will also reduce the number of patients reporting to health care system for treatment seeking preventing health establishments to act as foci for further spread of disease in the community.
