Methods:
A hospital based case control study (86 cases and 263 controls ) was conducted in Aljomhory hemodialysis center in Sa’adah city. Cases were ESRF patients who attended hemodialysis center in Aljomhory Hospital in Sa’adah city during the study period from January 1st to 15 Febrauary 15th 2016. Controls were healthy persons attending Aljomhory Hospital as outpatients’ relatives during the study period who were free from ESRD.
Results:

Patients who were 40 years old or more were 3.7 times more likely to have ESRD compared to younger patients. The odds of ESRD was higher among males compared to females. Illitreacy was associated significantly with higher odds of ESRD. Hypertension (OR = 14.13), diabetes (OR = 3.07), cardiovascular disseases (OR = 10.24), having urinry stones (OR = 24.76), recurrent urinary tract infection (OR = 14.13), cigarrete smoking (OR = 7.39), and Shammah use (OR = 6.65) were significantly associated with higher odds of ESRD
Conclusions:
Increased age, male gender, illiteracy, hypetension, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, having urinry stones, recurrent urinary tract infection, cigarrete smoking, and Shammah use were signifcantlt associated with ESRF
