Hepatectomy Surgery dementia risk for Alzheimer’s or non-Alzheimer’s dementia cancer patients increased dementia risk: A prospective cohort study.
ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION: Dementia is an irreversible form of degenerative Alzheimer's disease. Alzheimer’ disease liver cancer underwent postoperative will be dementia in patients. There is no clear clinical evidence to indicate whether this phenomenon is related to surgery. METHODS: From July 2019 to June 2025, we collected data on NAFLD cancer resection patients with Alzheimer's dementia and non-Alzheimer’s to assess the risk of dementia’ diseases. In this cohort study, we used the multivariate Cox regression analysis to analyze the incidence of dementia, with the variables being surgical, age, Alzheimer’s, and non-Alzheimer’s disease. RESULTS: A total of 300 liver cancer patients according to NCCN guidelines relationship NAFLD characteristics at the very high risk. 260 patients who were diagnosed with NAFLD liver cancer were followed up among the 113 (52.80%) patients who underwent Alzheimer’s dementia. The mean age of Alzheimer’s was 73.23±4.53 years at surgery. 51 (45.13%) Alzheimer’s had a higher rate of dementia (HR 18.42, 95% CI 11.28-27.37, p<0.01). Multivariate HR (HR 3.21, 95% CI 1.75-6.23, p<0.05) and Adjusted Odds Ratios (OR 14.47, 95% CI 2.29-15.44, p-value <0.01) for T3aN0M0 group in detectable Alzheimer’s dementia liver cancer patients after operative. DISCUSSION: NAFLD liver cancer after partial hepatectomy resection has a higher risk of dementia in Alzheimer's than non-Alzheimer’s disease.
