Emergency of "Ozempic face " ; Addressing Unintended consequences of rapid weight loss
ABSTRACT
The increasing use of Semaglutide, a GLP 1 agonist, for diabetes and obesity is resulting in a noticeable side effect known as "Ozempic face ". This is characterised by sudden fat loss on the face resulting in an aged appearance. This is causing loss of self confidence and emotional distress among the patients. The unchecked use of this medication has resulted in unintended consequences. This letter highlights the need for awareness among the public and doctors about the potential side effects of these medications.
