The scale of the health effects of HIV infection on pregnant patients receiving anaesthesia: a scoping review proposal
ABSTRACT
Background:
There is a gap in the literature with regard to the evidence of the effect of HIV infection on the parturients’ haemodynamic response to anaesthesia. This scoping review will attempt to uncover that evidence and present it in a narrative and visual format.
Objective:
• To define the limits of the available evidence base of the effects of HIV infection on parturients receiving anaesthesia • Describe the types of pathology common in HIV infection that is relevant to the practice of anaesthesiology • To describe the scale of the available evidence on the subject visually using an evidence map
Methods:
The scoping review will be conducted following the JBI guidelines and data related to the study objectives will be extracted from the databases that will be used for the scoping review.
Results:
Data from the final selected studies will be extracted using a standardised Covidence data extraction tool by two independent data extractors and adapted to suit different types of data from different study types
Conclusions:
A textual narrative synthesis will be used to summarise the findings and analyse them. Data will be synthesised using a narrative synthesis. This will include a description of the search and study inclusion process, a descriptive summary of the studies selected for inclusion in the review as well as their quality, and the findings of the review Clinical Trial: PRR1-
