ChatGPT in ultrasound medicine: potential applications and challenges

ABSTRACT

Ultrasound is widely used and is an important part of the medical imaging field. ChatGPT is a natural language processing model based on artificial intelligence technology because of its strong ability to understand text and generate widespread attention. In clinical practice, ChatGPT has shown encouraging results in report generation, clinical decision support, education and training of assistants, scientific writing, and more. This article elaborates on the potential application of ChatGPT in the medical work, teaching and training, scientific research, and department management of the ultrasound department. These include patient health consultation, ultrasound clinical decision support, report writing, education and training, identification of potential research opportunities, scientific writing, software code assistance, department scheduling and resource allocation, performance management, ultrasound workflow optimization, etc. The potential challenges in the application of ChatGPT in ultrasound are also discussed. In general, ChatGPT, as one of the most representative artificial intelligence technologies, will surely bring new vitality and optimization to the daily work of the ultrasound department. However, it is also necessary to treat and use this technology correctly, improve the relevant laws and regulations, and ensure that it is safe and reliable to help the development and progress of the ultrasound department.
