Comparative Effects of Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) Training and Close Chain Exercises for Quadriceps Stren
ABSTRACT
Background:
The Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS) is a potential reason for pain in the anterior aspect of the knee. The incidence of "anterior knee pain" is high and is reported at 22/1,000 people each year. Women are impacted with regards to over two times as regularly as men.
Objective:
To determine the Comparative Effects of Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) Training and Close Chain Exercises for Quadriceps Strengthening in patients with PFPS.
Methods:
A sample of 30 patients was calculated through an online randomized computer-generated system. This sample was divided into two groups both are treatment groups (Group A and B). Group A received Close Chain exercises and BFR training including moist hot packs. Group B received Close Chain exercises alone. Special tests were performed to diagnose the problem including an Apprehension test, patellar tilt test, and compression test was also included.
Results:
Data analysis was done by using SPSS V.20. A paired T-test was conducted for between-group analysis. Close Chain Exercises and BFR training were significantly improved in group A at follow-up sessions with a P value less than 0.05. An independent T-test was conducted for within-group analysis. Significant improvement was observed for all outcome measures in both groups with less than 0.05.
Conclusions:
Both groups are found effective in Close Chain Exercises and BFR training and Close Chain Exercises alone. But significant improvement was observed in Close Chain Exercises and BFR training group.
